Manufacturers & filtering [page 6 of 'ferrous particle problem']
We have seen that ISO Cleaniness standards are not sufficient to protect your system from ferrous particle damage - what about the manufacturer?
Many system owners assume that their system has adequate filtration because it was specified by the machinery manufacturer or system integrator.
This is often not the case, machine manufacturers often do not understand fully in what context the equipment is to be used and therefore would not be able to optimise the system.
Secondly, often much of their incomes come from servicing failed machines - it is therefore not always in their interest for the machines to run efficiently for an indefinite period after the warranty periods have expired.
Finally, often the system specifiers are put under pressure to minimise the filtration costs, cutting costs in this way is usually a false economy, resulting in far greater costs over time.
