Unimerco [a tooling manufacturer] employs an Agie Mondo Star 20 spark erosion EDM.
To filter the 5% synthetic oil with deironized water used on the machines a central coolant filtration system (Union Filtration) incorporating magentic skimmers, bulk magnetic removal and through sand filtration is used.
To test the Magnom™ technology a unit was fitted to a stand alone EDM machine employing a 15 micron cartridge filter system (Novotec F40430).
As can be seen here, the Magnom then removed a significant amount of fine ferrous contaminant from the fluid - this contaminant had passed through the existing conventional filtering.
The engineers at Unimerco were very impressed with the performance and level of filtration offered by the Magnom™.
The engineers believe they now have virtually no contaminant. Further Magnom™ units will be employed.
