TARKMET Oy are a Finnish supplier of diesel pump parts to various engine manufacturers. Tarkmet sells these parts to ships and powerplants around the world, it is therefore extremely important that the products are clean.
This 5” HT Clear was installed in a washing machine to filter the washing fluid of the steel parts and therefore improve their cleanliness.
After the washing process the parts are sampled for finish and cleanliness.
The MagnomTM core below was removed from the washing machine after 1 week, metallic particulate ranging from less than a micron to thousands of micron are clearly visible.
With pump dynamic clearances of just a few micron this particulate would have certainly caused component failure and therefore warranty costs for Tarkmet had it not been removed.
COMPONENTA Oy, a Finnish foundry and machine shop has benefited from using a 10” HT Magnom in a similar application.
This Magnom was installed after a 20 micron filter after a major customer asked Componenta to improve their part cleanliness, after just 1 week the Magnom had collected over 100 grams of contaminant. The company is now applying the Magnom to a series of other machines on site.
