When Minoo Karani, Founder and MD of Aquacure plc, one of the UK’s leading water treatment companies, had problems with his home central heating system he thought his company should have the product to rectify the problem.
His central heating system was frequently failing through both cold spots in the radiators and cavitation in the pumps. When one of his technicians flushed the system they realised that the problems were due to rust contamination.
He researched the most commonly used systems to remove the rust from the system and found nothing adequate, at that point he approached Fluid Conditioning Systems who quickly offered a product to assist.
The Clear 5 Unit was installed by Minoo’s technicians; the FCS team suggested that the system was installed BEFORE the pump to protect it, because the Magnom™ does not create a significant pressure drop so there was no problem with cavitation in the pump
Minoo knew that the Magnom™ was working within a week, when he noticed that the system was flowing more freely, the pump was not cavitating at all and importantly the Magnom was filling with contamination [shown here].
Upon inspection of the Magnom™ it was soon clear that large amounts of rust and magnetic material had been caught by the Magnom™. After 3 weeks, the unit needed cleaning, and the core reinstalled, where it still continues to collect smaller remaining amounts of attracted contaminants.
In central heating systems the Magnom™ has been shown to reduce cold spots, improve flow, extend pump and boiler life and reduce flushing requirements.
