Notes
The Corus owned Lackenby Steel Works Beam Mill, had experienced several bearing failures on the static and mobile hot saws, due to ferrous contamination.
A UK Magnom™ distributor, Linden Group, installed a Magnom™ Simplex unit on the main drive lubrication system to help improve the cleanliness of the circuit, which was found to contain both large and very fine contaminant particles.
Multiple benefits are now being experienced as a result of fitting the Magnom™ unit. Not only is the lubrication system free from the most damaging contamination, the life span of the oil itself has been increased.
The Engineer is also delighted that the pump is now protected, and that should a bearing begin to fail the Magnom™ will act as an early warning system and protect the rest of the circuit components from being damaged by the debris.
As a result of the proven effectiveness of Magnom™ the Engineer is now also installing Magnom™ units on the power packs
